How It Works

  1. Pick your workspace. Use Stirling PDF Suite for documents, or ConvertX for images, video, audio, e-books, and other formats.
  2. Choose a tool and add your file. The tile opens the engine's workbench, where you select your file and processing options. Files dropped on this portal open that same workspace; select the file again there to upload it. Keep uploads below 100MB.
  3. Process and download. The server works in a shared 5 GB RAMDisk. Save your result promptly, before automatic cleanup. Large OCR and video jobs may take longer on the community server.

Zero-Retention Privacy Architecture

Stirling-PDF and ConvertX use a Linux tmpfs RAMDisk for their configured working files. These files are kept out of persistent application storage. Login and analytics are disabled in the PDF engine.

A maintenance task checks every minute and removes temporary files whose last modification is older than five minutes. ConvertX's SQLite database is preserved so the converter remains available; it is held on the same volatile RAMDisk.

The timer shows a shared retention cycle, not a receipt for an individual upload. RAM storage and deletion do not promise cryptographic erasure. Use a trusted local tool for highly sensitive documents, and keep your own copy of every result.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Which workspace should I use?

Stirling PDF Suite provides more than 50 PDF tools, including merging, splitting, OCR, compression, conversion to Office documents, page extraction, rotation, signing, and watermarks. ConvertX supports over 1,000 formats, including HEIC to JPG or PNG, MP4 and MP3, EPUB and MOBI, and Markdown documents. Availability depends on the installed engine and input file.

Are the tools free? Do I need an account?

The public workspaces are free to use without creating an account. They run on open-source software and a shared Oracle Ampere A1 server. Native sponsorship placements and optional community donations help maintain the service.

What happens after five minutes?

Download your result as soon as processing finishes. The host scans every 60 seconds and deletes working files older than five minutes based on modification time. The scan interval and timestamp rounding can add a short delay. A restart also clears the RAMDisk. A long-running job may expire, so try a smaller input if processing fails.

Why is the maximum upload size 100MB?

The gateway limits request bodies to 100MB to protect the shared 5 GB RAMDisk and leave processing memory for both engines. Multipart form data adds a small amount of overhead, so keep individual files slightly below the limit. Conversion availability also depends on free RAM and CPU capacity.

Why does dropping a file open another page?

This portal is a launcher for two independent open-source workspaces. It checks dropped file sizes and opens the selected engine without storing a copy in the browser or uploading it here. Select the file inside the workbench to start processing.

How can I support or inspect the project?
